sunset at Dubai Marina

While I was quite, I had to arrange many things.
I moved out from my apartment, sold some furnitures and now I am settle in hotel apartment for couple of weeks. This is the view from the hotel. Again it is Marina but more slightly different from my regular angle from home :)

After 6.5 years in Dubai, it will be hard to leave from this city and friends but I decided to stop working for a while and travel. :)
I am going back to my home country, Turkey and start to travel from nearby cities first.

Slowly I hope to extend my travel to other countries. Cuba in November is already planned, I hope others will follow after Cuba visit.

I am leaving the country at the end of the June. I hope I could have more posts about Dubai. While I was struggle to post regularly, I admire Erik once again. How he handled blogging and moving was impressive.

There are many stuff out here in Dubai waiting to be photographed. I am glad that I photographed some of them and shared a bit of this city with you. Even it is not enough, some is always better than nothing. :)

Rain in Dubai

Last two days, I was fighting with cold,  and sneezing a lot. I recover with spending whole weekend while sleeping.
Today, while driving to the office,  I was thinking what can I post for today.
The sky was dull,  the humid was high. I would say its gonna rain If wouldn't be in Dubai.
After all those years, there is still a chance to get surprised by the weather in Dubai. 
At lunch break I was looking table to sit outside thinking it will be warm but still I want to sit outside as much as I can. And here the surprise,  there was rain. 😀not rain like a rain but still table and chairs were get raindrops.
I had to take my lunch to the office. Here we have the view from our office pantry with clouds. The windows can not be opened because of the security reasons , only it give 10 cm gap. While I was holding my mobile in that gap the picture comes out tilted. I didn't want to correct it. 😀

Maze Building

Taken near the DIFC. The building's name is "Maze Tower" the exterior looks like maze :)

Full Moon behind the tower

This morning I woke up very early, planning to walk at the beach with friends taking advantage of winter (still) time in Dubai.
I saw Full Moon between these two towers. It was great moment to see in that angle.
I went inside to take my camera. Moon was moving so fast. the moment I got my camera, it already hidden behind the tower, Couple of seconds later it was gone out of my view totally.

the sand storm is over, but strong wind is still here with us in Dubai.

With this strong wind, we have now clear view.
Also the temperature has dropped dramatically .
one week back the temperature was around 35 deg C. Now we see 18 - 20 deg C evening time.

Marina

Fire at high-rise buildings..

This picture is from my  archive. It was 18th of November 2012. nearly 2 years back.
This fire start in the middle of the nigh. All residents evacuated without any harm. This building is still empty and carry all the signs of that fire.

This is quite terrific. my office is on the 27th floor and when ever we had a fire drill it took nearly min 7-8 minutes to go down.
Fire at high -rise buildings are quite rare because of all precautions but economical impact after it happened is severe.

Burj Khalifa

Today is 1st of November and here we are another City Daily Photo Theme Day.

This month's theme is Landmark. When we think about landmark from Dubai, It might be Burj al Arab or Burj Khalifa.

Burj Al Arab can be still count as one of Landmarks from Dubai but in these days popular landmark is definitely Burj Khalifa.

I want to share the famous, the highest, the biggest ...est, ...est, ...est man-made building of the world; Burj Khalifa in a different look.

This might be little unrealistic editing but this building itself is also a bit unrealistic :)
isn't it? you can see the building's world records from the wikipedia page.

My personal thought about building is continuously swinging from "Masterpiece of Engineering" to "unnecessary use of resources"

After all those years, still I couldn't decide ...

Last week, I had a small walk at lunch break. after quick sandwich I had a chance to take some pictures for this panorama.

I merged 7 pictures here with Microsoft ICE panorama maker.

it is free programme and really working well.

the twisted building is almost finished. Not completed yet but some floors are opened for accommodation.

At high rise buildings window cleaning quite difficult. Each building has different schedule. Usually once in a quarter they are cleaning all windows.

Finally I am back in Dubai now.

While I was arranging posts during leave, I didn't consider the day I return I would not have any chance to open my computer. so this is another lesson for the future.. i missed yesterday's post and catch today's one at last minute..

this is a view from one restaurant called Observatory on 52nd floor of one of hotels in Marina area. I like the view from here. i think it is a good place to have "welcome to Dubai" dinner or farewell dinners.. we were at farewell dinner for one of our colleagues at that time. another picture from archive. I hope starting this weekend, i will have a chance to take new pictures from Dubai..

Lightning in Dubai

While I was preparing today's post, suddenly my room lightened. I didn't understand what happened. After few seconds I heart the thunderstorm's strong sound. Then it started heavy rain with lightning.

It was a kind of surprise for me, because forecast didn't mentioned that heavy storm is expected today. Or they mentioned but I didn't notice.
these lightning reminded me that I have one nice shot from couple of years back. I guess it will suit today's weather.

Till the day I took this picture, I didn't notice that we can see the whole building's reflection on another building.

sunset @ Dubai Marina

Yesterday the sunset was so beautiful. Silhouette buildings are part of Dubai Marina area. Mainly residential high rise buildings. This area also called new Dubai.

Rainy Dubai

Rain in Dubai is not a common thing. Actually recent years we have more rain during winter time. I heart about some experiments on cloud seeding. It seems those experiments work. 

The Address Downtown Dubai Hotel

Everyone who went to the Observatory deck at the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building of the world) took this shot.
the building on the left side is The Adress Downton Dubai. it is opened in 2008 and the height is 302 m.
