ready to board??

Taken at the Creek.
I really like to spent some time and take pictures at this area. It gives the idea of old days of Dubai. Still authentic, and all these goods will export very traditional way even today.

snapshot from Deira

The Creek is very attractive point for many people. Doesn't matter if you are resident of Dubai or tourist.
We can see traditional boats and high rise buildings far end. on the left high rise building called "rolex tower" on this side of the building it is written in Arabic, other side with Latin alphabets.
The building on the right side is head-quarter of Emirates & NBD Bank.

Motion..

From this size of the picture the load of the boat may not be clear. They were bicycles, a lot of them piled onto boat.

I was waiting for this cyclist to take the picture but at the last moment, this car drive into my picture, so here we have the picture for October's theme of movement.  :)

Abra ride

second post from last weekend. I took this shot from the Deira part of the creek, at second floor of the parking garage.
the cost of the Abra ride is about 1 Dirhem. (1 USD is fixed to 3.65 AED) you can pass from Deira to Bur Dubai with cheapest price.

When ever I have visitor from outside Dubai, I bring them here to experience this. This is not exactly the most popular tourist thing, but if you want to see something different from 5 stars hotels or shiny malls, this is real touch of Dubai.
Passengers are mainly from Dubai residents and they are using Abras as a part of their daily routine, of course you will see some tourist as well. If you want full creek tour with Abra, you can rent it as well. In that case it will not be 1 Dirhem  :)

The Creek

a view from the Creek.
old wooden ships are carrying everything to the near cost / Africa / India or close countries. I saw so many TV, and electrical house appliances in these ships.
you can also see little bit better condition ship at the other side of the Creek. It is used for Dinner dhow cruise at the creek. at the far behind, you see world's tallest building Burj Khalifa.

Abra

Maybe the oldest transport way in Dubai to cross the creek from Bur Dubai to Deira.

Today it is still keeping the importance of transport purpose even though many people took them just for fun. The fare is only 1 Dirhem. and it is really fun to cross the creek with one of these Abras.

Abra Ride at Creek

This is the easiest and also the cheapest way to pass the Creek. There are two districts near the Creek; Bur Dubai and Deira. Both of them are oldest residential and business district of Old Dubai. Actually they are keeping their importance till Today. Many people use these Abra`s for transport purposes but they are also nice attraction point for tourists. You can hire one Abra and have your own private the Creek tour.
