Ski Dubai..
Indoor Ski resort located in Mall of Emirates. It has 22500 square meters area.
Opened in 2005.
One part is full with glass,in this way people can see the inside from the mall. There are some restaurants also located next to that and they have a view of ski slop. :)
it must be different experience to feel the -4 when the weather is +40.

Departure

I am on leave next 10 days for the Ramadan Eid Break and small vacation.

Umbrella

Before moving to Dubai, I was thinking umbrella is used only for rain.
I learnt alternative usage here in Dubai.

B for Break time

Break time is very important if you are working outside.

During summer time, midday break is mandatory by law. Starting from 15th of June and end of 15th of September all outdoor workers should have midday break. it is forbidden any work under direct sunlight between 12:30 pm and 3 pm. It is announced by Ministry of Labour. Penalties also quite high for companies who does not follow the rules.

during noon time, you may see many workers under trees or anything can give some shade...

Nice decoration from restaurant Saladicious but i am not sure how it will look like when they get grow.

during summer time, plus Ramadan, it is really difficult to go out and take new pictures.
I think, if this blog survive from this summer, it can go further :)

... at least for the next summer.

decorated tunnels

In Dubai, all tunnels are decorated with icons of Dubai or related with that area such as if you are taking one tunnel near by sea, you may see waves as decoration.
It is not that much common in my home country in Turkey.

Recently I wanted to take pictures for Monday Mural from tunnels but I couldn't.

Today I found this old picture. at that time, I was on passenger seat and taking pictures was not potential danger.

they have nice place, delicious food but the portion is too big. They called themselves Little More but I think they should change as "Much More"

hanged moss plant balls

Yesterday evening, while we were entering the restaurant I didn't notice these hanged plants at the entrance of the restaurant. Most probably the reason was to focused on what to eat  :)

After we had delicious dinner and nice time, we noticed them on the way back. First I thought they were plastic but when I looked closer, it was obvious that they are real. I really like the idea. After small search on google I learned these hanged plants called as "Moss plant balls"

by the way the restaurant (Saladicious  )  has great ambiance & decoration with delicious dishes.

Z for Zabeel Saray

I would like to post a picture of Zebra for the Z but it is not easy to find Zebra in Dubai :)
So I remember this hotel. its called Jumeirah Zabeel Saray .
Saray means Palace in Farsi also it is used with the same meaning in Turkish. The Hotel looks like palace maybe because of that design they choose this name.

The hotel has Ottoman style from the architecture to the interior design.

Handloom house in Bur Dubai

Bur Dubai is the oldest district of Dubai. Literally the name translate to English as "Mainland Dubai" It is west part of the creek.
Today it is full with renovated historical areas, souqs, and mosques. All streets are full with shops.

When you are visiting the area, you may think that you are in India not in Middle Eastern Country. Main population in this area is Indian and shops are for their preference mainly. Here is one shop, I guess origin of this shop is also from India.

Hazy Dubai

In these days, weather is hazy. It is typical in summer. The sky looks grey and the view is not clear.

I took this picture yesterday at sunset. I don't like taking pictures in this type of weather..

Earlier I posted some pictures from the ground floor you can see here; indoor piazza  and close shot for the horse called horse at the mall

the dome is glass so it helps to have real flowers in front of restaurants. There are Chinese, Italian, Lebanon restaurants and steak house, and some more that I don't remember now.

Perception

Last week, when I was walking in the Mall of Emirates, I noticed the window of Harvey Nicholson has changed.

They dedicated their 4 main windows for young local artists art pieces. This was called Perception Series #4 by Bahar al Bahar. He is one of awarded young artist in 2013 by Sheikha Manal.

his words about this particular art piece also were available on the window.

"the celebration of Ramadan spans an entire month, making it stand out amongst other occasions that usually occur for a shorter span of time. The notion of a month interval was used to construct a geometric formal system which abstracts the periodical event while replacing its time perception into a visual and a physical representation of what a month could look like - had it been a physical object" 

Area closed for summer

July's theme is "Celebrating Summer"

Some restaurants, and malls close their open area during summer.
