Stormtrooper in Dubai Marathon

Today, I would like to share another picture from yesterday's run, Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon. I took this picture at 10 K.
I was trying to find good location just before the finish. these two runners in Stormtrooper costume started late from the crowd.

For the record, a couple scene from Star Wars 7 were filmed in desert near Abu Dhabi last summer.

free parking..

I really like this free parking lots between some buildings. Many people use these lands for their cars but other things also need parking space : )

I am flying....

On Tuesday, I went to Jumeriah Open Beach to visit and photographed one of Dubai's recent World Record. I think at the end Dubai will have the record of holding so many world records.

On the way back I saw this ramp. I guess it is installed at the beach for the  National Day celebrations.

This week I heard 3 different world records in Dubai.

First one was Car Parade . After first attempt they achieved a record with 58 brands of car. I learned it from one of my colleagues who stuck in the traffic. Afterwards she learned that there was this parade.

the second one, I heard on the radio, which is tallest building in chocolate. Of course it is a replica of the tallest building, Burj Khalifa. They used 4 tonnes Belgian chocolate. It will be on display next 2 weeks at the airport. If you are planning to visit Dubai in these days, just check for this in Terminal 3. Unfortunately I will not travel next two weeks. I don't think that they will keep this more longer.

At the beach

I would like to continue to post from last Saturday's photo walk.
Here we have boat on the sand.  It doesn't seem that the boat spend some time at the see recently.
The style is quite traditional. 

Doors from Jumeirah

This weekend,  I was planning to run with my friends but everyone has another program or just tired and didn't show up.
When I understood that I will be alone this time I took this as an opportunity for "photo walk" instead of regular sport.
Even I took pictures with my mobile they are quite Ok to share here. There were some things always grab my attention while jogging but never had a chance to take a picture. Here we have the first one. Very unique door from Jumeirah area belong to one of villa. It looks like they are not using this door anymore.  This villa rent out as furniture store in these days.I think this door was used in the past when the villa was home for some people.

Under construction

Saturday early morning I saw this at the beginning of Kite Beach while we were running.

I couldn't pass without taking its picture. thanks to my phone I did.

What I read on the newspaper, they are planning 16 km running path at the beach..
starting from Kite Beach they completed some part, for the rest is still under construction. :)

I wish they would plant some trees alongside the running path. it is quite difficult to run under the crazy sun.

We were running around SAFA Park in the past, its path is fully covered by trees. But this year, there is one big mega project around SAFA Park and going to park is nearly impossible.. of course because of the construction.

football

In Dubai, you can find large empty areas next to the big buildings or residential areas.
most of the times, those empty areas used for free parking for nearby residents.

but here, at Jumeirah area people put these to play football.
At that time the land was empty.
I am quite sure during winter time, this place would not be empty. : )

Ghosts of Starbucks

Yesterday, after I left from my friend's home, I decided to walk a bit, instead of going back home and enjoy the nice weather. I was luck the weather was still nice. just around 28- 29 deg C, of course in evening time :)
I took this picture at Starbucks Cafe - Jumeirah Road.
I didn't notice it earlier, that we had Starbucks Drive Through Cafe in Dubai. Maybe because I am not Starbucks fan.

according to the information, I found on internet; this store was opened at the beginning of 2013 and became the 103rd store in the UAE and also the first Drive-Through one in Dubai.

Tour Dubai 2014

Tour Dubai; it is quite new thing for Dubai. this year UCI Asia Tour has opened with Tour Dubai which had 4 stages starting from 5th till 8th of Feb.
I took this picture on Saturday from the last stage of the tour and the race track was 123 km.
Here we can see the main group.
The first 3 cyclist were already passed. Security / escort cars were blocking the view so, here we see the main group, while they were passing by Jumeirah Beach Road.
