Emirates Jazz Festival - John Legend

This week we had 13th Dubai Jazz Festival here at the amphitheatre in Media City.
The festival started on Wednesday with Christina Perri and James Blunt,
On second day, Sting was on the stage after Lidsey Stirling.
on the third and the last day of the festival there were Esperanza Spalding and John Legend. We were not sure about our schedule so we bought tickets at last minute. I wish I could listen Sting as well here.
the final of the concert has a small surprise. 3 musicians showed up on the stage with Oriental instruments. while we were trying to figure out, who they are, Orientalist version of "all of me" started. I recorded with the mobile to post it here, but afterwards I found this record, which has better quality and full version. Enjoy the music

Blended: Elvis Costello & Diana Krall

this year Dubai has a new music festival called Blended between 1st of May and 2nd May.
Festival for Blues, Jazz, Soul & Folk.

On the second day of Blended, first Elvis Costello was on the stage then he left the stage to his wife, Diana Krall. At the end we were lucky to listen 2 songs from them together.

this might be the last post from the same area for the Monday Mural. i am going to check once more if I missed to take any of them.

teddy bear in the mall

taken at Festival City.
Don't ask the relation of big teddy bear and live music from piano.
Most probably management was trying to take some attention to their mall. I just make a quick search for the number of malls just in Dubai.
wikipedia listed 69 malls. !!
with this number of malls, I can understand the motivation of managers. :)
it doesn't have to have any meaning, just present something new, different, and unexpected for visitors.

Paint Parade

While I was leaving the office today, I heard some sounds coming from outside. At first I thought it is a noise from one of construction sites. You know Dubai is still "under construction" :)

Afterwards I realised there is a rhythm in that sound but still couldn't figure out what was that.

When I reached downstairs, on the way to parking area the sound and rhythm  getting closer and closer. I waited for one minute and heyy they are: small group is playing and cheering out and walking all around the Jumeirah Lake Towers. They were not singing, they were not giving any brochures they were not advertising something so still I have no idea what they were doing.

From the way how they dressed, I assume they are related with paint in a way. :)

There were 2 security guys escorting them while they were playing. they are not in the picture. In Dubai playing music in public areas are subject to approval from several authorities.
