X for X
I was planning to post something different for today, but at the last minute I realised today is Wednesday and we reach the letter X.
I couldn't thing anything and after the search in my pictures I found this post from 2012 Redbull X fighters. This is extreme freestyle motocross sport.
I am not fan of this but once they were in Dubai I wanted to see at least once.
While they were competing each other, many audience just amazed with their performance.
They were here in Dubai 2012 and 2013 but Dubai is not in their tour stops in 2014.

Buggy Shuttle in JLT
These buggies have been in service long time back, but I couldn't manage to catch them till yesterday.
Valtrans is giving this service in Jumeirah Lake Towers. You may see similar services from different companies at The Walk / JBR or inside the Dubai Mall. When the distance is long for walking and regular traffic is not available, these are good option.
Considering the heat in summer, walking outside is real challenge.
While I was google it if there is any news about it, I found this from 2013 in Emirates 24/7. They also put one short video showing one of them in action. :)

reflection through escalator
Last weekend, we went to the Beach for breakfast at one of new places recently opened at The Beach / JBR. On the way back, I noticed this reflection at escalator of underground car park.
The colours were changing constantly. I spent couple of minutes, at the same spot. At the end security approached and asked me, "I really couldn't understand. What is there to be photographed?"
It was obvious that I was not security threat and the question was just coming from the curiosity. :) After I showed him the picture, he really liked it.
Taking a picture in public may disturb many people in everywhere, but here in Dubai, it is more sensitive. Sometimes, people may smile at you while you are taking picture sometimes they may stopped you, even if you were concentrate on something else, they may claim that you were taking their pictures which they are not approve.
It happened couple of times and the only solution is showing them what was taken and in case if they were in the frame by mistake, delete those pictures in front of their eyes. I would not take any risk on that kind a situation.

power lines
While I was looking for one particular picture from archive in 2010, I saw this shot. Then decided to share it here. Even it is old dated picture, these are still there and we can consider that the view is valid. : )
These power lines are main power road of Dubai as well as they are connected with other Emirates.
Energy consumption in UAE is really high. A couple years back, all buildings were in full light even they were occupied or under construction. Starting with recession in 2008, those lights started to turned off one by one.
Now, there are many campaigns all around the city to reduce energy consumption. Awareness is getting higher on savings.
For example; In my building, there was one advertisement from the management, which was saying "Kill the BILL . Management was offering raffle for residents who can make significant save on their water / electricity consumption.
In addition to this raffle, they have upgraded the lightening system with motion sensors at corridors.
It is really good to see these kind of initiatives even tough energy consumption is still quite high.

W for Windsurf
Once more it is Wednesday and we reached the letter W at ABC Wednesday
I hope this windsurfer's shot from archive will be OK for the theme.
During winter time, we have acceptable weather for windsurf also sometimes there is enough waves for board surf.
I haven't try these. It seems difficult.
This photo was taken at November 2011. I love winter time, but only in Dubai :)

reflection from the ceiling
Last weekend, we decided to make some changes for the lunch and instead of cafe at our building we went a newly opened restaurant at JBR, the beach. The food was delicious and the decoration was interesting. Whole ceiling was decorated with different shape mirrors. I couldn't leave the restaurant without this picture. :)

Hope your dream comes true
Yesterday, there was a nice surprise for everybody at our office building.
First I saw a banner on a car. The banner was saying "I wish I was a Porsche" . Of course the car was not a Porsche but budgetary car. I just smiled and try to understand who did that.
Then I saw second car with the banner was "Was it a Carrera or Panamera?" still I was walking and thinking "who and why did this?"
At last I saw this banner. As soon as I saw that, I took my camera to take the picture. : )
Still I have no idea the reason of that.
But it doesn't important at all. The important thing is, I agree with this wish..
"Hope your dream comes true"

V for Vitrail
Wafi Mall has the best stained glass art in Dubai. One part of the mall is covered only stained glass. It is really huge. The theme of the Wafi Mall is Egyptian and pyramids.
Wednesday is the day for alphabet. We reach the letter V.
In English its called as "stained glass" but in French, it is "vitrail" I assume we took the word vitray in Turkish from French.

decoration of Iranian Hospital
Iranian Hospital has really great tiles and decoration. Unfortunately, each time I was in hurry to stop and take pictures. Today, I manage to take this picture while I was waiting at the traffic light.
I had couple of seconds to take the picture afterwards the view blocked by another car. This building has more beautiful tiles than this one and I want to share those in the future. One day for sure :)

Heyy Taxi !!
Most probably, due to his belief, driver decorated the car with flowers.
Duabi Taxi has very modern and nice system. 5 - 6 years back when there was not enough public transport, demand for taxis were so high. I remember that I had to wait 1.5 hour in the queue at Mall or at Airport.
Nowadays it is not the case. Call their number, if your address is already registered in their system with your number, the nearest taxi will be sent to your address from the system, or you may talk with the operator and ask a taxi for the address where you are.

zest ?
I haven't heart the word "zest" before. When I read the today's theme last week, I started to think, what could be "zest in Dubai"?.
According to Oxford Dictionaries the definition is "Great enthusiasm and energy". Also according to google other synonyms are "joy, delight, excitement,...." After I read all those definitions, I remembered this picture which was taken at desert.
I hope I understood properly. We will see how other bloggers interpreted "ZEST" from this link.
